Lighting Diagrams – Outdoor Sports
These images were made using 5 off-camera flashes. There were 3 umbrellas as follows:
1 @ shoot-through with a 580 EX flash at 1/2 power
1 @ reflector umbrella at model left 90 degrees to camera direction with 2 @ 580 flashes at 1/2 power
1 @ reflector umbrella at model right 90 degrees to camera direction with 2 @ 580 flashes at 1/2 power
camera settings: 1/200 s, f 8, ISO100. These settings drop the ambient light 1 to 2 stops lower than the flash light.
Four pocket wizards were used, one on camera, and 3 off-camera. A mono audio splitter was used to control the dual flashes with one pocket wizard. Brackets were made to focus the two flashes at one umbrella. Setup photo:
